About the Image Resizer
Many websites, forms and marketplaces require images of a specific size, and smaller dimensions load faster. Resizing in the browser is quicker than opening an image editor for a single photo.
If you enter both width and height, the image is stretched to exactly that size, which can distort it if the proportions differ. The resized image is always saved as a JPG, so transparent areas are filled with white. Your image is decoded and re-encoded by your browser using the Canvas API. This tool does not upload the file to a Usevanta server.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I keep the aspect ratio?
Fill in only the width or only the height. The other side is calculated automatically from the original proportions.
What format is the resized image?
It is downloaded as a JPG. If you need a PNG with transparency, resize first and convert separately, or use a dedicated editor.
Is my image uploaded to a server?
Your image is decoded and re-encoded by your browser using the Canvas API. This tool does not upload the file to a Usevanta server.
Does resizing remove photo metadata?
Yes. Re-encoding through the canvas produces a new file without the original EXIF data, such as camera details or GPS location.
Why does a very large image fail on my phone?
Browsers limit how big a canvas can be, and phones have less memory. Very large photos may fail on some devices.
