About the PNG to JPG Converter

JPG files are usually much smaller than PNGs for photos and screenshots with lots of colors, which makes them better for email, web pages and upload forms with size limits.

JPG does not support transparency, so transparent pixels become white. JPG compression is lossy, so sharp text and flat-color graphics may show slight artifacts. For logos and icons, PNG is often the better format. Your image is decoded and re-encoded by your browser using the Canvas API. This tool does not upload the file to a Usevanta server.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens to a transparent background?

It is filled with white, because the JPG format cannot store transparency.

Which quality setting should I choose?

Around 80–90% keeps photos looking sharp while reducing file size. Lower values give smaller files with more visible compression.

Does it change the image dimensions?

No. The JPG has the same width and height as the original PNG.

Is my image uploaded?

Your image is decoded and re-encoded by your browser using the Canvas API. This tool does not upload the file to a Usevanta server.
